Background, Research Interests, and Current Projects:
Dongwook is interested in landscape ecology, and especially vegetation dynamics in relation to environmental conditions. In addition, human history and its impact on a landscape scale has always intrigued him.
For his Ph.D. Dongwook studied the effects of increasing parcelization in land ownership in the Ozarks of Missouri using the forest landscape simulation model LANDIS.
His current research is on pinyon-juniper expansion in the woodlands of central Nevada. Dongwook focuses on a variety of factors, such as fire, grazing, logging, and climate change.
