Agriculture, Nutrition & Veterinary Sciences (ANVS)
The Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Veterinary Sciences was created to answer
the needs of Nevada’s stakeholders while fulfilling the obligations of a Land-Grant
University to the agricultural community. By bringing together agriculture, food science,
rangeland ecology and veterinary science, the University of Nevada, Reno has created
the only academic institution in Nevada that delivers education and research on
the complete food chain.

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BMB)
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology integrates the molecular life
sciences from the most basic biology-chemistry interface to molecular genetics and
bioinformatics. The disciplines of the molecular biosciences involve the use of
sophisticated analytical, biochemical, and genetic technologies to examine the activities
of living systems, focusing on the structures and roles of macromolecules in complex
biological systems.

Natural Resources & Environmental Science (NRES)
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Science has a mission to provide
and apply scientific knowledge and understanding of inter-relationships among people,
living organisms and environments through outreach in teaching, research and community
service. Faculty and students address how human communities and individuals interact
with their environments and how collectively we can best manage the resources and
ecological services provided by our shared environment for a sustainable future.

Divisions
Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station
The mission of NAES is to perform basic and applied research on agricultural, environmental,
and natural and community resource issues related to the future needs of Nevada,
the Great Basin, the nation, and the world. Research is designed to provide knowledge
that will enhance the quality of individual and family life and the social and economic
vitality of Nevada. Researchers utilize the best techniques of qualitative and quantitative
research to form the knowledge base for instruction of and application to the broader
mission of the land-grant university.

Wolf Pack Meats
The CABNR's Wolf Pack Meats is a federally inspected facility with the capability
for slaughtering and complete processing of meat animals and poultry. The facilities
include a cutting room, smokers, freezers, fresh meat processing facilities and
cooked meat processing facilities, where students learn about processing and value-added
further processing of beef, pork, lamb, and poultry meat products. The classroom
setting provides state-of-the-art equipment and features an auditorium with a rail
system for moving carcasses from the cooler to the classroom for lectures and seminars.

Center for Resource Economics
The University's Center for Resource Economics (CORE) provides leadership in
economic research and outreach programs to foster forward-thinking environmental
policy for Nevada and the nation. CORE accomplishes these objectives by fostering
multidisciplinary, policy-driven research to solve today’s most pressing economic
development, environmental, and natural resource problems.

The Nevada Genomics Center (NGC) is a core facility designed to aid researchers
in the study of genes and their function. Our goal is to provide quality, timely,
and reliable service to small and medium size research laboratories.
