Air Filtration Systems And Secondhand Smoke-Induced Health Effects

 

Despite all the health warnings, many states continue to allow smoking in public places, exposing not only their patrons but also their employees. As of July 2007 only 22 states had passed smoke-free laws that include restaurants and bars.  Those opposed to smoking bans point to ventilation systems as the answer to protection from exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS). To date, however, there have not been any comprehensive scientific studies looking at the impact of ventilation systems on reducing the health effects from SHS exposure.
